Own productTutoring platform

Docera

A platform where the student and the tutor each get a product of their own.

A tutoring platform where pupils and students do the teaching. Tutor search, paid bookings, a video room, courses and materials on the student's side, and on the tutor's side a full panel for running their own practice. Designed and written from scratch as one coherent system.

Starting point

A two-sided platform has to convince both sides at once.

A student will not book without trust. A tutor will not create a profile without seeing what they will earn. Docera had to solve both at once: give the student a booking with no risk, and give the tutor a tool that replaces a calendar, a messenger, a spreadsheet of earnings and a course shop.

What the site had to do

  • A booking that is understood before the student clicks anything
  • The tutor sees their earnings on every payment
  • Sessions, courses and materials in one system

The decisions,one by one.

The homepage does not explain how the platform works. It shows it. A search with subject and level sits beside a sample booking card with three steps: chosen, paid, confirmed. Beneath are three promises that take the risk off the student.

  • Tutor search in two fields
  • A booking card with time, place and price
  • Refund, visible price and video room, one sentence each

A tutor lands on a separate page written in their language: teach what you can do, earn on what you know. Instead of a feature list they get specifics: a profile in five minutes and 85% of every payment for themselves. A carousel shows what they can earn on: sessions, video courses and materials.

  • A separate path and message for tutors
  • The payment split stated outright
  • Three ways of earning shown in pictures

This is the deepest part of the system. In the morning the tutor sees bookings to confirm and upcoming sessions, and enters the room with one click. In finances every transaction shows the amount, the commission and what reaches the account. On top of that: courses, materials, a question bank, groups, discount codes and messages.

  • A dashboard with the week, earnings and students
  • Finances with the commission itemised on every payment
  • Profile statistics without cookies or tracking

The section on what learning looks like speaks the student's language, not the language of terms and conditions. Four frames describe four situations: a problem from your own notebook, a question the day before a test, a small-group class and a choice of where to meet. Each of them is a working feature of the platform.

  • Messages to the tutor between sessions
  • Group classes priced per person
  • A video room on the platform or the tutor's own link

Under the bonnet, the part nobody sees.
