Shoper and Shopify are the two store platforms Polish sellers compare most often. Almost every comparison in Google is written by someone who earns on one of them, and most quote prices that are a year or two old.
We sell neither. We build custom stores, and in this article we say plainly that for most new stores that is not the best choice. Prices were checked on official pricing pages on 22 October 2026 and apply to the Polish market; sources are at the end.
Short answer: if you sell mainly in Poland and want a low starting cost, BLIK, InPost and Allegro without extra apps, choose Shoper. If you plan to sell abroad or need features from a large app store, choose Shopify. At around PLN 30k monthly turnover the difference is a few thousand zlotys a year in Shoper's favour, but most of the bill is payment fees, not the subscription.
Kluczowe wnioski
- Shoper is cheaper to start and knows Poland better: payments, couriers and Allegro included, support in Polish.
- Shopify wins on selling abroad, a huge app store and a mature admin that works in Polish.
- The subscription is the smallest part of the bill. At PLN 30k monthly turnover you pay more for payment processing than for the platform.
- A custom store only makes sense when the look and the buying experience are part of the product. For most new stores it is overkill.
What Shopify costs in Poland
Basic is PLN 109 a month billed monthly or PLN 79 billed yearly; Grow PLN 319 or 239; Advanced PLN 1,630 or 1,220; Shopify Plus from EUR 2,100 a month. The pricing page does not say whether these are net or gross. The current offer is 3 days free, then PLN 4 a month for 3 months.
Polish stores can now use Shopify Payments, with cards, BLIK and Przelewy24. Online card payments cost 1.95% + PLN 1.20 on Basic, 1.8% + PLN 1.20 on Grow and 1.65% + PLN 1.20 on Advanced. With an external payment provider instead, Shopify adds its own fee: 2% on Basic, 1% on Grow, 0.6% on Advanced.
What Shoper costs
Shoper Standard is currently PLN 29 net a month in the first year when 12 months are paid upfront; the sign-up form on the same page shows PLN 339 net for the first year. From the second year Standard is PLN 299 net a month or PLN 3,249 net a year; Premium from PLN 729 net a month. Starter is PLN 169 net a month. The trial is 14 days.
Shoper Payments covers BLIK, cards and instant transfers at one rate from 1.58% + PLN 0.39 net on Standard. With an external gateway Shoper adds 0.59% on Starter and Standard, 0.25% on Premium. There is no Shoper fee on Allegro orders, PayPal, cash on delivery or bank transfers.
The yearly cost in one scenario
A store with 150 orders of PLN 200 a month: PLN 30k monthly turnover, 1,800 orders a year, all payments through the platform's own payment system.
| Platform | Subscription per year | Payments per year | Total |
|---|---|---|---|
| Shoper Standard, first year | PLN 348 net | PLN 6,390 net | approx. PLN 6,740 net |
| Shoper Standard, following years | PLN 3,249 net | PLN 6,390 net | approx. PLN 9,640 net |
| Shopify Basic, billed yearly | PLN 948 | PLN 9,180 | approx. PLN 10,130 |
| Shopify Grow, billed yearly | PLN 2,868 | PLN 8,640 | approx. PLN 11,510 |
At this turnover payment fees are several times the subscription. The table leaves out themes and paid apps, which on Shopify usually add the most.
Polish payments and couriers
Shoper Shipping has no subscription: you pay per parcel, with InPost, DPD, GLS, DHL, Polish Post and others in one place. On Shopify the official InPost app is free but, according to its listing, needs the Advanced plan or carrier-calculated shipping, and the parcel-locker map at checkout works only on Shopify Plus.
Legal requirements in Poland
Any Polish store needs terms of sale, information on the 14-day right of withdrawal, a GDPR privacy policy and, for discounts, the lowest price from the 30 days before the discount (the Omnibus rule). Shoper says these are built in; on Shopify price history is usually added with an app. National e-invoicing (KSeF) has applied to the largest companies since 1 February 2026 and to other VAT payers since 1 April 2026; check the current rules for the smallest firms on podatki.gov.pl.
Admin, support and apps
Shopify's admin works in Polish, but much of the documentation and support is in English, and its app store has thousands of mostly English apps, each a separate subscription. Shoper has fewer apps but support in Polish and more Polish features built in.
Choose Shoper if
- you sell mainly in Poland and want BLIK, InPost and Allegro without extra apps
- you want customer support in Polish
- you want the lowest cost in the first year
- you sell on Allegro and want it connected to the store
Choose Shopify if
- you plan to sell in several countries and currencies
- you need features that only an app store with thousands of apps offers
- you want polished themes and a large ecosystem
- you accept solving some Polish requirements with apps
How to leave a platform if you need to
Both platforms export products, customers and orders to CSV. The theme and the apps stay behind. The costliest mistake when moving is losing Google rankings, so redirect every old product and category address.
- Export products, customers and orders to CSV files.
- List the addresses of every product and category page that is in Google.
- Prepare redirects from the old addresses to the new ones, or you lose rankings.
- Check which features came from apps, because apps do not move with the store.
- Plan a transition period and keep the old store on until the new one takes orders.
Is Allegro alone enough?
Allegro brings traffic a new store does not have, but takes a commission on every sale that depends on the category and is calculated on the price plus the delivery cost the buyer pays. Most sellers do best with both: Allegro for new customers, their own store for returning ones. Shoper includes a free Allegro integration from the Standard plan, with limits in the basic version; Shopify connects through third-party apps.
When a custom store beats both
This is what we build, so we keep facts and advertising apart. With us a store starts at PLN 50,000 net, with care and hosting at PLN 449 a month, plus payment-provider fees as on any platform. In the first year that is a multiple of Shoper or Shopify. It does not make sense when you are just starting and need a store now. It does when the store is part of the brand, when products are expensive or unique and need to be shown differently, when you need something no theme offers, or when apps and fees at high sales cost more than your own code. That is how we built Varleu and The White Sigil.
FAQ

Yes, through Shopify Payments in Poland.
What does Shoper cost after the first year?
Standard costs PLN 299 net a month or PLN 3,249 net a year from the second year.
Can I move from Shoper to Shopify without losing Google rankings?
Yes, if every old product and category address is redirected. Data moves via CSV; the store's look is rebuilt.
Summary
For a store selling in Poland, Shoper is usually cheaper and simpler, especially in the first year. Shopify wins for selling abroad and for extensive needs. In both cases what matters is the sum of payments, apps and work, not the subscription. Keep a custom store for the moment when the look and buying experience are part of the product.
